The Business of Real Estate - Remember to Love ItJuly 30th, 2010 Sure, our economy is depressed. If we delve into the challenges of the economic downfall of the US we would all be depressed. My question to you is, “how do you portray your personal view of Real Estate to the general public?” I am hit with the question, “how is the Real Estate business?” every single day. When I respond, “terrific” the person looks surprised and amazed. They are really surprised! They proceed to tell me that anyone else they ask will tell them that they are struggling and that the down economy has totally affected their businesses. I say, “hum…”. What a shame for them! I am finding that the market is shifting drastically but there is NO slow down if you shift with it! Get out of your daily routine and bend with the times and the need. If you are positive and happy and helpful and open and honest, the business will come. We are not selling an intangible like insurance. Insurance will pay off if your home burns down or if you die. We are not selling flowers that wilt after replacing the water a couple of times. We are not selling minutes for your cell phone that run out after too much talk. What we are selling is REAL. It’s tangible and forever lasting. It is a wonderful investment even if you are buying a bit high. Why? Because our Market is cyclical. As certain as it dips it will return. Okay, just a quick reminder. By definition: Land and the improvements on it. Real estate is one of the primary (and indeed one of the only) assets whose value does not depreciate over time. Depending on the particular title, ownership of real estate may include mineral rights to any geophysical aspects occurring thereon. Ownership of real estate does not automatically include the right to develop it, depending on local regulations. However, development of real estate (for example by building a house on it) usually increases the value. While supply of real estate does not vary, demand may change greatly depending on its particular features, number of people in the area, and cultural differences regarding land ownership. “It is an attractive form of collateral because it cannot be stolen or destroyed”, quote by Farlex Financial Dictionary How lucky are we? We, all that are included within a Real Estate transaction are contributing to one of, if not the most, important transaction that the clients we work with will ever experience. We are lucky to be a part of this business. Please try not to forget this. The difference we have and will make in so many lives should continue to fortify our own lives and give us the very reason to continue to continue. Do Not Forget what “REAL ESTATE” Is… Do Not Forget just what you contribute. Do Not Forget just how you must love this business and what you are doing for your clients, their lives and their lively hoods! Thanks for listening.
