Real Estate Agents - Should You Stay Or Go?

February 17th, 2009

Stay Or Go?

I am amazed at how many people have stopped living! Listen I know the world as we knew it before is gone. But it has not stopped; people are still living, working and believe it or not spending. If you watch the news you think everyone is unemployed broke and destitute. Not true everyone is not affected by the economic changes that are happening.

As realtors I think it is time that we decide why did we get into this business? Was it for the quick money, the illusion of working from home in turn giving us more free time with our families? Or was it just something to do, because at the time everyone was doing it?

If any of the above was your reason for entering this career the rest of this article may not be for you. If you have a different reason for becoming a realtor, I have news for you THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE LOOKING TO BUY/SALE/LEASE/RENT PROPERTY!

Here is where the rubber meets the road, are you going to be there for them? I know of countless Realtors who have left this business, which is GREAT news for those of us still here.

Now what I am about to say is going to separate the men from the boys and the women from the girls. It is time for us left in the Real estate industry to WORK. For so long we have had all of our business handed to us on a silver plate. In today’s times if you want to be chosen you have to work for it. That means attending networking events and network not go to just drink and eat. Educate, educate, educate, I can not stress this point enough with some many changes happening in our industry we must be educated so that we can effectively service our buyers and sellers. And this brings me to my last point CUSTOMER SERVICE, this has been lacking in previous years from Realtors. If we want to win back the trust of our community and society as a whole we must go back to the basics.

What are the basics you say, return calls, answer emails, be available, and doing exactly what you said you would do. I know the road we have ahead of us is going to be tough but if we remember why we got into real estate business in the first place it will be well worth it.
